Good news – the magnificent Pacific Princess docked in Los Angeles today. We left the ship in Fremantle, Australia on March 21st and flew home. There were several people that were unable to fly that far, stayed onboard and enjoyed another month at sea. We were glad to hear the ship made it back to the US safe and all aboard were healthy. Princess is now responsible to get all passengers home without using commercial transportation.

I miss our friends. I miss dinners together every night where we always had a reason to raise our glass and make a toast. I miss seeing the beautiful sunsets and the moon rise, the motion of the sea, breathing the fresh ocean air, feeling the warm sun and joking about our next destination. “Those were the day’s my friends”!

Times have changed! Quarantine, ‘stay-at-home’ or shelter in place, however you would like to describe it, it’s definitely a change. Of course, none of us ever expected the new way of living inside our homes and rarely seeing other humans. You have to understand, Bob and I live in the last house on a dead-end road. We get very excited when we hear a vehicle, usually the postman. I’ve been ordering items regularly from Amazon just so we can see a human come to our door. Today we watched out our window as our lawn was being mowed for the first time this season. For my friends that live down south, we also had snow flurries today. Yes, it’s true.
I recall talking to a woman at work that was very curious how Bob and I could or wanted to spend so much time together on our cruise. I had to chuckle. I would like to talk to her to see how it’s going? I’m hoping downtime will give people a different outlook on life, recognize what is important and enjoy the simple things in life. Be thankful, happy and hopeful.
…those were the day’s my friends, ‘we thought they’d never end’. It certainly gives that phrase a whole new meaning. Let’s pray that ‘end’ will come soon, but our lives will forever change. Be kind to others. Recognize and appreciate the people that have worked endlessly through this time – healthcare workers, people that feed you (physically and spiritually), truck drivers that deliver the goods, etc. I’m sure you know some of these people by name. Take some time and handwrite a nice thank you to one of them.
Tell someone you love how much you appreciate them.
