Puntarenas, Costa Rica – January 11, 2023

January 11, 2023 – Puntarenas, Costa Rica

What a beautiful sunrise as we docked in Puntarenas, Costa Rica.  Bob and I are taking a jungle cruise today.  We disembarked the ship and got on a bus to take us through the country-side and to the location of the jungle cruise.

The mountain views were beautiful in a distance.  Our guide was full of information about his country.  He said there is no military in Costa Rica.  It’s a beautiful country with rainforests, coffee plantations, bananas, cantaloupe, pineapple, dates and much more.  It’s very eco-friendly and they take pride in showing off their beautiful country.

Costa Rica is south of Nicaragua and north of Panama.  Like Panama, it touches both Atlantic and Pacific oceans.  The currency is a Costa Rican colon which currently is 584 to $1 US dollar.  There are more than 121 volcano’s and 6 of those are active.  When we visited Costa Rica in 2020, we went to the Carara National Park and saw scarlet macaws.  This time we went to the river and were lucky enough to spot a few along the river, along with crocodiles, howler monkey’s and many other birds.

The people are very friendly and many work in the tourism field so learning various languages is very beneficial for their livelihood.

We enjoyed our day in Costa Rica and had a beautiful sunset as we were leaving.

Note: I want to thank my friend, Bev, for sharing her sunrise pictures that I included in this post.
