January 28, 2023 – Crossing The Equator

Today we had a ceremony for over 450 passengers that have never crossed the equator, otherwise known as pollywog’s. King Neptune boarded and held the ceremony, along with our Captain. The ceremony is a long-standing tradition of initiation that commemorates a sailor’s first time crossing of the equator. After the ceremony, the sailors are then called shellbacks and King Neptune gives us permission to cross the equator.
A few hours later, the Captain announced we were officially crossing the equator and are now in the Southern Hemisphere. The ship horn blew loudly to mark the occasion.
