Days At Sea

January 2023

We’ve had several days at sea in January – crossing from LA to Hawaii and Hawaii to French Polynesia.  Now we are on our way to American Samoa.

I love days at sea.  I’ve had people ask if we get bored.  Honestly, I’ve never been bored.  Although, I don’t participate in many of the 90+ activities they have a day, there are plenty of opportunities to learn, do and enjoy.

We have faithfully been getting our steps in each day, usually around 5 miles.  We’ve been to the gym, the spa, deck parties, afternoon tea, football games, enrichment talks, church services, choir practice, evening entertainment, etc.  We enjoy sitting on our balcony and enjoying the vast ocean and always watching for wildlife.  I joined choir for ‘leg 2’. There are over 130 in this harmony choir and will enjoy, once again, singing on the deck when we enter Sydney harbor.

As you can imagine, the majority of the people onboard are retired, but there are also some young families too. There is one family with an infant but we’ve seen other families with 3 kids and 5 kids. One dad is working from the ship and mom is home schooling the kids (‘ship schooling’). What an education! Good news for mom, she never has to buy groceries, prepare any meals, etc. The kids have access to food any time of day and endless opportunities to learn, including arts & crafts daily (i.e. – watercolor class just one class). There is also a private game room just for the kids.

We’ve met some great people from all over the world. Enjoy making life long friendships.
